Stellar Carved Turns

Stellar Carved Turns

Instruction
posted: 08/15/2006

A general rule for modern, efficient skiing is to maintain equal edge angles as you move from turn to turn. Think about forming a parallelogram with your lower body and skis.

Start with a wide-track stance and keep the same distance between your legs as you begin to turn. Tip your feet and legs equally to create dynamic parallelograms formed by your ankles, tibias, knees and skis. If you maintain equal edge angles, your skis will also create dynamic parallelograms. The result: stellar, carved turns that leave behind perfect railroad tracks.
