Local ski resorts offer fun activities in the winter and in the summer. Bike races, concerts and art festivals are just a few of the offerings that will make you forget the phrase "off season. Check out the resorts below for a sample of the Independence Day festivities.

Girdwood, Alaska

30th Annual Girdwood Forest Fair
Girdwood will have music on all three days, but the 11am Saturday parade kicks off the weekend. Alaskan artists, entertainers, and foods come together to make this Independence weekend different than anything found in the lower 48 states.

Squaw Valley, California
July 2, 3
This weekend at The Village at Squaw Valley, all entertainment is free. Water play pools, bungee jumping, and live reggae music make this beach party one of a kind. Take a cable car ride up to High Camp for a different perspective on the fireworks.

Snowbird, Utah
July 2, 3, 4
Snowbird got hammered so hard this winter, that they still have snow right now. Help close out one of the best seasons in recent history by coming out and skiing on our Nation's birthday. A pancake breakfast, spring skiing in the summer, and live music will make this the defining après ski party of the season.

Jackson, Wyoming

In keeping with Jackson's cowboy roots, get a taste of the way the west celebrates independence with country music, a rodeo, and fireworks at Snow King Mountain.

Aspen, Colorado
July 4
Over 20,000 people come out for Aspen's Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade starting at high noon. Keep an eye out for the air force jet fly by, and don't miss the community street dance. Fire works start at 9:15pm, over Aspen Mountain, weather permitting.

Frisco, Colorado
July 4
Main Street gets shut down for this all-day event in Summit County. A pancake breakfast, kids fishing derby, arts and crafts fair, kids bike decorating contest, and a parade, occur in the morning. Make it to the Frisco Bay Marina by 9:30pm for the best views of the fireworks.

Celebrate your independence in the state with the motto "Live Free or Die. Mt. Washington, a high point in the East named after our former president, is just down the road. Parade starts at 5PM, fireworks at 9:30pm, approximately.

4th of July Celebration, Stowe Fire Dept. 100th Anniversary
Check out the open house at the Stowe Fire Department all day Saturday, then head to the street dance and BBQ in the Jackson Arena from 6pm to midnight. On Sunday, the parade starts at 11am. Afterward, the Stowe Events Field has music, food, entertainment, games and the biggest fireworks display Stowe has ever seen…ever.
