New Village for Squaw

Olympic Valley, CA, Jan. 29, 2002--This season, Squaw Valley USA plans to open a Whistler-like village with shops, restaurants, attractions, private homes and condominiums. The first stage of the village's construction is almost finished and occupancy for the First Ascent Lodge is set to begin on February 1st.

The Village at Squaw Valley USA is designed to complement the ski area's great skiing with easy access to lifts and uncompromising guest services. At the First Ascent Lodge there will be 24-hour front desk personnel, full concierge services, gear lockers and for a small fee the resort will even buy your groceries before you arrive so that you have one less thing to think about.

The designers of First Ascent sought to match a rustic mountain atmosphere with modern life. Gas fireplaces, heated floors, gourmet kitchens, daily maid service, and high-speed Internet access are in every home. Each of the buildings will also feature a "Kid's Club", outdoor hot tubs, media lounges with big screen TVs and laundry facilities.

Besides First Ascent, The Village at Squaw Valley boasts eateries and retail shops. Space has already been allocated for the San Francisco favorite PlumpJack Balboa Café, Starbucks Coffee, the Italian restaurant Occhiali, Mountain Hardware, PlumpJackSport, Y.B. Uglée cosmetics and Nantucket Natural Oils.

Phase two of the project is already underway and will be ready for the 2002-2003 season. It will feature restaurants, shops, a nightclub and 147 more homes.

For this season, however, nightly rates start as low as $259. Visit The Village At Squaw for more information.
