Utah Reports Record November Snowfall

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Nov. 19, 2003--With more than eight feet of snow already on the ground at some Utah ski resorts and another foot or moreforecast for later this week, Utah resorts are on track to surpass the 1994 record when 151 inches of snow fell at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort during November.

"This is one of the best season openings in the past 20 years, and the weather forecasters are telling us there's more snow on the way," saidSki Utah President Kip Pitou. Noting that many Utah resorts and lodging properties are offering low-cost early season deals from now untilChristmas, Pitou added, "This is the perfect scenario: skiers get mid-season conditions at early-season prices."

According to the National Weather Service, "the next Pacific storm will start to affect the area late Thursday and continue through most of theweekend." The forecast calls for significant snowfall in all Utah mountains. The abundant early snowfall has allowed most Utah resorts toopen well ahead of schedule. Early season skiers and snowboarders report superb conditions.
