Like any first-class host, Park City is already preparing for its coming-out party at the 2002 Olympics. Theresort is sprucing up with $7 million in on-mountainimprovements: more snowmaking, faster lifts and expanded trail glading. Ever family-friendly, Park City's easy-turning boulevards¿PayDay and Bonanza among them¿will make anyone feel like a snow god. Experts swear by the resort's back bowls; check out Jupiter and McConkey's. Thankfully the "way-too-slow gondola" has been replaced with two high-speed lifts, which provide easy access to the area's challenging dark side. Utah jokes aside, nightlife and restaurants along Park City's Main Street actually draw non-ski visitors up from Salt Lake. "Park City is a ski town," a reader says, bestowing theultimate compliment.

What's New Two high-speed six-passenger chairlifts will cut summit time in half; four new runs and 100 acres of glading; lighted terrain park for skiers and snowboarders.
A Good Deal Free skiing and snowboarding with a minimum four-night stay, opening day to Dec. 19; (800) 243-2932.
Medals Gold Accessibility, Lodging; Silver Snow Quality, Grooming, Terrain, Challenge, Lifts, Service, Weather,On-Mountain Food, Dining, Après-Ski, Off-Hill Activities.
High/Low Rank Accessibility (3); Value (64).
Don't Miss Festivities during America's opening World Cup weekend, Nov. 20-23.
Reader Remarks "Friendly resort and fun town. Easy to get to." "Way expensive. Get real, Park City!"
