Snowbird Extends Season Into June

May 26, 2005

Snowbird, Utah - Utah's longest ski and snowboard season just got longer at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort. Resort officials announced today the Tram and Little Cloud chairlift will be open for skiing and riding on weekends through July 4, conditions permitting.

"Snowbird's winter season has been outstanding from start to finish," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. "It's fitting that we'll be able to extend our season past Memorial Day into June, which has only been done a handful of times before. Temperatures and snowpack will determine how long we can remain open."

Snowbird will offer the Tram and Little Cloud lifts with advanced and expert terrain only. The Emma terrain park and Superpipe are closed for the season.

The lifts will be open from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day Monday and then weekends as long as conditions permit. The daily ticket price is $30.

Tickets will be sold at the Snowbird Center only, accessed by Snowbird Entry 2.

June will mark the eighth month of skiing and snowboarding during Snowbird's 2004-05 season. If Snowbird is able to remain open until the 4th of July, which has only happened once in the resort's history in 1995, the ski and snowboard season would total 201 days. The mountain received more than 52 feet of snowfall and had its earliest opening ever on Nov. 5.

Season ticket sales for the 2005-06 season will begin June 1 at the Snowbird Center, through the mail and at www.snowbird.com.
