Snowstorm Dumps on Canada

BANFF/ LAKE LOUISE, Alberta Nov. 19, 2003 -- Locals woke up this morning to find their cars and neighborhoods buried under a massive amount of the white stuff. That's right it is puking in Banff National Park. A series of large weather systems have dropped over 25 inches of powder in the last 48 hours on the Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine ski resorts. The snow is continuing to fall and the heavy snowfall warning is still in effect.

This generous snowfall will allow the ski resorts to continue to open more terrain everyday and has provided an outstanding start for this season. Lake Louise will have all lifts running as of Thursday November 20. At Sunshine Village in addition to the Strawberry, Wawa, Jackrabbit and Wolverine lifts currently open, the new Standish quad will open on Thursday November 20 with Angel Express to open on Friday. Ski Banff at Norquay (currently open for race training only) had to cancel race training today due to too much snow. Ski Banff at Norquay is scheduled to open to the public on December 12, 2003.

"This is easily the best start to the ski season for Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine in the past 10 years," stated Bart Donnelly, Director of Marketing & Sales "and we are on course for a record snowfall for the month of November if this keeps up."

Excitement overwhelms locals and visitors as they sport their ski gear heading towards the slopes for their first powder runs of the season. Ski Banff-Lake Louise-Sunshine looks forward to welcoming skiers and riders back to the snowy slopes for yet another great season.
