Be ready to charge all day long by prepping your legs with ski fitness guru Shannon Bahrke, yoga instructor Ashley Battersby, and U.S. Ski Team nutrition and dietician Allen Tran.

Partnering with the U.S. Ski Team, SKI Mag has created an 8-week online ski fitness class that you can take with you anywhere there is internet. Each class is an hour long or less, with a Monday through Saturday schedule and a rest day on Sunday.

The best skiers know there’s a direct correlation between summer activities and winter abilities. But when the temperature spikes and the sun starts to shine, it’s easy to forget the challenges of carving out turns, enduring tough terrain, and ripping through powder. We asked some of the sport’s strongest athletes what they do to cross-train before ski season.

Try this routine to prepare your body for a stellar ski season.

In any sport, the less your body can handle, the less you’re capable of. You’re not going to be able to crush Pali Face all day if your definition of exercise is the walk from your car to the office. We talked to Dr. Mark Pitcher, a chiropractor and physiologist in Vail, as well as a specialist in TRX suspension training, to get a better understanding of pre-season training.

Protect your knees by strengthening your hammies.

Conditioning for skiing has two benefits. The first is no surprise: The better shape you’re in, the better you’ll ski. But being fit also helps reduce your chance of injury. Here, Ernie Reimer, USSA’s Strength and Conditioning Coach, and U.S. Ski Team athlete Kiley Staples take you through a step-by-step introduction to a workout with our favorite name: Romanian Dead Lifts. This exercise strengthens hamstrings, helping to reduce the chance for knee and ACL injuries.

We don't know if a zombie apocalypse is coming, but we're sure ski season is.

A handful of recent reports about zombie-like attacks have many wondering: Is the zombie apocalypse near? The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released this statement: ”The CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms).” If you want to believe that, go ahead, but don’t say we never warned you.

Inspired by the TransAlpine race—an eight-day event that takes pairs of runners from Germany to Italy—TransRockies isn’t for the faint of heart or weak of feet.
