Eric Friedman, publicist for Mad River Glen, a place that doesn’t really need more publicity, has the luxury of being able to say pretty much what he thinks—which is good, because he would anyway. • Garbo’s Grill is a new joint inside the Carleton Lodge, at base of Whistler Mountain, focusing on burgers with 20 topping choices, including sauces, cheeses, and veggies.
• Canyons Resort unveils the new, improved Cloud Dine at the top of the Dreamcatcher and Dreamscape quads. The 300-seat venue boasts a menu of made-to-order salads, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas plus delicious pastries and coffee drinks.

The defining characteristic of Sugarbush is that it’s two mountains: Lincoln Peak—the original ’Bush—and Mt. Ellen, formerly Glen Ellen ski area. The two-mile Slidebrook Express high-speed quad connects the two, and there’s plenty to love about both, but their vibes and personalities are distinctly different. Lincoln Peak is sleek and polished, with full resort amenities; Mt. Ellen is a shut-up-and-ski, throwback kind of place.
