Snowbird Wraps Up Record Season This Weekend

Snowbird, UT May 12, 2004 — Utah's ski and snowboard season will come to a close Sunday, May 16, following the final weekend of spring skiing and riding at Snowbird, Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16. The resort is currently closed for mid-week skiing.

The 2003-04 season was a successful one for Snowbird, marked by a record number of skier days and a season snowfall total of 530 inches, exceeding the annual average of 500 inches. Snow is currently falling and more is expected throughout the week.

"We've had a tremendous season, in terms of snow and skier days," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. "We're excited to unveil our new summer activities in early July."

New for summer of 2004, a ZipRider will fly suspended riders down a cable the length of the Chickadee Run. In addition to hiking, biking, scooter riding, outdoor dining, shopping and concerts, Snowbird offers summer visitors a new dual-track Alpine Slide on the Chickadee Run and ATV tours and horseback rides in Mineral Basin. Scenic Aerial Tram rides to Hidden Peak are scheduled to begin May 29 and Tram-served mountain biking and off-road scooter riding begin when conditions permit.

Snowbird is wrapping up the longest ski and snowboard season in Utah, lasting six months and two days. The resort opened Nov. 14, 2003 and will close May 16, 2004.

Skiing and riding at Snowbird, Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, is $30/day and is open 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Park in the Snowbird Center lot, Snowbird Entry 2, and take the Tram to Little Cloud Chairlift, accessing Little Cloud Bowl and Regulator Johnson.

Snowbird's late-season skiing and snowboarding is not for beginners. Only advanced terrain is available from the Little Cloud Chairlift. .
