Boulder, Colo. (press release) - Snow, terrain and nightlife -- that's what really counts in a great resort.

Whistler Blackcomb, BC, has all that and more as it takes top honors as the No. 1 ski area in North America for the fifth consecutive year, according to SKIING magazine in its November issue on sale next week (cover price $3.99). The Top-25 list is part of SKIING's annual "Killer Trips" issue, which provides skiers with the ultimate guide to mountain adventure.

"Whistler Blackcomb dominates the competition," said editor-in-chief Perkins Miller. "This mountain has it all -- the largest vertical drop in North America, awesome terrain and some of the best nightlife around."

Beyond the overall top 25 ski areas in North America, SKIING ranks resorts for steeps (#1: Jackson Hole, WY); powder (#1: Alta/Snowbird, UT); bumps (#1: Winter Park, CO); and nightlife (#1: Aspen, CO). Editors also provide "Stats at a Glance," which includes snowfall, 3-day lift ticket price, vertical drop, steepest run and what not to miss. In addition, skiingmag.com's "Trip Planner" allows a skier to find his own top ski area in North America according to his own criteria. The "Top 25 Spots" rankings are compiled according to key categories with snow and terrain being the most important as well as being ranked by editors, contributors and professional skiers.
