Mini Blizzard at the Basin

Arapahoe Basin, CO, May 18-A spring storm has brought a return of winter to A-Basin ski area. The highest ski area in North America has whiteout conditions and six inches of new powder. Forecasters expect the snow to fall through this afternoon.

Arapahoe Basin has gotten about 15 inches of new snow in the last two weeks. The ski area has about 65% of its terrain open, with spring conditions and a 44-inch base.

This same slow-moving storm also brought seven inches of snow to Squaw Valley, CA, which boasts a 96-inch base depth on about 30% of it's terrain.
