News

July 11, 2005

Squaw Valley USA, CA - The forth annual Summer Art, Wine & Music Festival returns to the base village of Squaw Valley USA July 23-24, 2005. The two-day celebration features dozens of juried fine artists and crafts-people, gourmet food, kid's activities, a benefit wine tasting and ongoing live music in the base Village and at High Camp.

"This event makes for a really fun summer weekend, explains Squaw Valley's Katja Dahl. "The combination of fine art, fine wines, lively music, and fun in such a beautiful setting makes this a must attend summer event."

The festival draws talented artists from all over the west displaying fine art in a variety of mediums including watercolors, oil, pastels, sculpture, glass, jewelry, photography, copper and pottery. The weekend also includes a benefit wine tasting featuring select Northern California wineries each afternoon. Proceeds from the tasting benefit the Tahoe Forest Hospital, Arts for the Schools, and the Disabled Ski Foundation. A Super Jump, candle making, the Sky Jump Bungee Trampoline, the Flying Trapeze and fun games are part of the entertainment for kids attending the festival while adults can browse the art booths, sip wine and enjoy lunch at one of the many Village restaurants.

Entertainment throughout the festival includes performances by a variety of musical acts on both the Village event plaza stage and on the outdoor summer stage at High Camp (free with a cable car ticket). Will Bernard & Motherbug bring their heavy blend of R&B to High Camp for Saturday's mountaintop concert and Delta Blues and Dobro legend Eric Sardinas takes to the outdoor stage on Sunday afternoon. Both shows begin at 1pm. In the Village, the Caleb Dolister Trio entertains guests from 1pm -4pm on Saturday and 1pm- 5pm on Sunday. The festival hours are 10am - 7pm on Saturday, and 10am - 6pm on Sunday. For more information please visit www.squaw.com or call 530-583-6985.
