Dick Bass, who co-founded Snowbird and was instrumental in developing Vail and Beaver Creek, died Sunday in Dallas.

Richard Daniel “Dick” Bass, who co-founded Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort and summited Mt. Everest when he was 55 years old (the oldest by five years to summit Everest at that time), died Sunday at his home in Dallas. Bass was an indefatiguable visionary and pioneer in the ski industry, involved with several iconic American ski resorts.
