From the rugged slopes to the colorful downtown, this Colorado resort keeps the West wild.

After closing to the public for a few years, Echo Mountain in Colorado plans to start turning its lifts for everyone this season.

Echo Mountain ski area in Clear Creek County, Colorado announced that it'll reopen to the public this December. The 226-acre ski area closed to the public in 2012 when it was purchased by Nora Pykkonen, who transformed it into a ski-racing training facility that focused on kids. By reopening, Pykkonen hopes that they can extend the ski hill’s hours and create more opportunities for ski training at the mountain.
