Snow Hits Telluride

TELLURIDE, Colo. October 29, 2004 (Telluride Release)--Thanks to an overnight storm that hit the San Juan Mountains, Telluride is officially wearing its winter whites. Locals awoke to a town and ski area covered in snow. Mountain crews arereporting eight inches of new snow and a snow depth of up to 30 inches atthe top of Lift Six.

The National Weather Service is calling for more snow this weekend. "Thestorm couldn't have come at a better time. The snow is dense and heavy-agreat consistency for a base," said Pete Woods, vice president sales andmarketing for the Telluride Ski & Golf Company (Telski). "The mountain isshaping up nicely for opening day."

The Telluride Ski Resort opens Nov. 24, 2004. Ski season kicks off withDonation Day, a fundraiser for the Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club. Lifttickets are $24 for everyone, including Season Pass holders (exceptchildren five and under ski free); all lift ticket proceeds will be donatedto the club.
