One never knows what to expect from the ever-enigmatic Miller, on the slopes or off. As a favorite four years ago in Turin, he flopped. As something of an afterthought this time around, he flourished. With a controlled run down a choppy slope Monday, Miller won the downhill bronze behind Switzerland's Didier Defago and Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal at the Vancouver Games for his U.S.-record third career Olympic Alpine medal.

Many African athletes fail to even get to the Olympics because of a lack of money as well as sports equipment and training facilities (no snow is of course a major setback). The athletes that do make it scrape up money to train in Europe, Canada or the US. Some put wheels under their skis to be able to train at home. Here is MSNBC, which has been trying to position itself as a serious news channel in relationship to CNN, and they are subordinating that commitment to maximize their return. As old-fashioned as it seems, this is getting them higher numbers. It’s interesting to me that in a world that has changed so much with DVRs and the Internet, that an awful lot of people are consuming the Olympics like they did eight years ago.

The simplicity is appealing, but the uphill battle that these types of films must fight is preventing the plot and the characters from becoming stagnant. There's only so much story to go around, and the bulk of the movie must be supported by the audience's interest in the people and their predicament. In Frozen's case, neither engages viewers fully all the way through.
Launching so high up means the flying possibilities are immense. Either a quiet glide over Chamonix for 35mins or pass by Les Aiguilles de Chamonix heading in the direction of Les Drus or take a high transition to Le Brevent where anytime before late pm it is worth heading for the Brevent thermals.
