Bend, Ore. April 21, 2004 — Following two weeks of warm, sunny weather a low pressure system has brought winter back to Mt. Bachelor with temperatures in the mid-twenties and 21 inches of fresh snow on the slopes.

On Monday, April 19 the resort lowered adult daily lift ticket rates to just $30.00. Since then over a foot of snow has fallen. More snow is forecast through Thursday with the sun predicted to return for the weekend.

"We call this time of year the Summit Season, said resort spokesman Chris Johnston. "It's kind of ironic because we've been getting too much snow to open the Summit.

With more than 12 feet of snow on the ground Mt. Bachelor is planning to remain open until Memorial Day, May 31.

"It's inevitable that we get hit with a major snowstorm every year as soon as we go to spring hours, Johnston said. "Even running 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM there is plenty of powder for everyone because there are fewer people on the Mountain.
