KIRKWOOD, CALIFORNIA - (News Release) - While other Tahoe area resorts are reporting good conditions, Kirkwood is actually guaranteeing them. With a deep snow pack and base depth averaging 50 to 68 inches, Kirkwood is the best choice for skiing and riding at Lake Tahoe.

Any guest of Kirkwood who purchases a lift ticket on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday but then reports back to the ticket office that conditions at Kirkwood are not in fact better than other Tahoe resorts will receive one free lift ticket valid for another day. To redeem Kirkwood's condition guarantee, guests will need to bring their lift ticket to the Kirkwood Ticket Office between 3pm and 4pm on valid dates.

The "Guarantee" promotion at Kirkwood is valid until weather conditions change (applies to current conditions this season only). Free lift tickets issued under the Guarantee promotion will be valid Monday - Thursday (excludes Holidays). Weather conditions can change daily and no refunds will be offered. Not valid with a Kirkwood Seasons Pass.

February clinics can be enjoyed on these best-in-Tahoe conditions as instructors teach a variety of clinics such as steep and backcountry expeditions at California's only resort-based all-mountain skiing and riding education program.

Expedition: Kirkwood is helping advanced skiers and riders to master new terrain through off-piste, on-mountain programs. There are several clinics scheduled this week, as well as throughout the season, in which certified guides teach participants how to gain confidence and skill.

February 3:
> One-Day Steeps Clinic designed to help skiers and riders identify the right line, read a slope, devise a back-up plan and select terrain. The groups are small to ensure individual attention. The six-hour clinic is $125 for passholders and $155 for non-passholders and includes video analysis (weather permitting) and lunch.

> Kirkwood's big, wide-open bowls and hidden stashes make it a telemarker's paradise. The One Day Telemark Clinic teaches techniques and tactics to improve, as well as more advanced skills such as backcountry techniques, steeps and bumps. Groups are determined according to ability levels and current conditions. These six-hour clinics are $125 for passholders and $155 for non-passholders and include lunch and video analysis (weather permitting).

> The Full Moon Snowshoe Trek is a guided tour under the beautiful full-lit sky. The cost is $25, or $31 with snowshoe rental.

February 4 & 18:
> Kirkwood's Backcountry Awareness Clinic teaches the basic skills for venturing into the backcountry in this six-hour course that addresses avalanche awareness and avoidance, equipment use, snow observation and safe terrain travel. These six-hour clinics are lead by Expedition Guides and Pro Patrollers and are limited to 12 participants. A backpack, shovel, probe and receiver are provided. The cost is $125 for passholders and $155 for non-passholders.
