Mercersburg, PA, Aug. 3--The highly anticipated sale of Whitetail Resort in south central Pennsylvania is well underway.
After the Mercersburg Borough General Purpose Authority's failed in their attempt to purchase the resort in June, Whitetail hired the McShane Group to find a buyer.
The McShane Group took purchase bids for Whitetail through last Saturday, July 31. McShane is now studying the offers, although they will not disclose either the number or the terms of the bids.
"We are considering two of four meaningful offers," reports Rachel Nichols, in Whitetail's public relations office. The final decision should be announced within the next two weeks.
Offers for the resort may include ownership of the ski area and real estate lands, but so far the details remain under wraps. The ongoing sale has not impacted the resort's summer operations, and management expects to continue with business as usual.
"We still believe Whitetail is a viable recreational resource," said Whitetail president and general manager, Don MacAskill. "We have confidence that the owners will find a way to see that our summer activities continue and that we are ready to open the slopes when the snow flies."
