Yong Pyong, South Korea Feb. 26--Benjamin Raich of Austria, who brokeinto the World Cup a year ago with three quick victories at midseason,ended his victory drought this winter Saturday by capturing a World Cupgiant slalom. Dane Spencer (Boise, ID) had the top U.S. result,finishing 19th.

Coverage of the race will be tonight at 7 EST on Outdoor Life Network.World Cup leader Hermann Maier of Austria is skipping the weekend in theLand of the Morning Calm, training in Austria and skipping the rigoroustravel that comes with such a trip.

Raich had a two-run time of 2:27.56 for the fourth win of his careerwith Swiss GS ace Michael Von Gruenigen runnerup in 2:27.81. Third placewent to Frenchman Joel Chenal with a time of 2:28.35.

Spencer was 16th in the first run and finished with a 2:30.51 clocking.Bode Miller (Franconia, NH), 23rd in the first run, also dropped backthree spots on his second run, finishing 26th in 2:31.57.

The World Cup weekend concludes Sunday with a slalom before the menhead to the 1994 Olympic course in Kvitfjell, Norway for two downhillsand a super G.
