STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-January 24, 2008-The Steamboat Ski Area wants to share the joy of its 20+ Foot Champagne Powder snow season, more than 270 inches and counting, with everyone during the 20 Foot Champagne Powder Celebration Sweepstakes, Video and Powder Prose contests, by offering a pair of Solomon skis and bindings to twenty lucky powderhounds.

"With 270+ snowy reasons already to celebrate this season, the resort is giving skiers/riders a whole bunch more with its recently unveiled 20+ Foot Champagne Powder Sweepstakes, said Andy Wirth, executive vice president of sales & marketing and chief marketing officer for Intrawest. "With more than 20 feet of snow, skiing/riding in Steamboat is taking on an entirely new meaning this year and what better way to enjoy the rest of the season, than on a brand new Salomon pair of skis to boot.

Steamboat will give powder enthusiasts three ways to win with the launch of the 20+ Foot Celebration Campaign including a Sweepstakes, Video Contest and Powder Prose writing competition. Individuals may enter any one or all three portions of the campaign via the steamboat website at www.steamboat.com.

Sweepstakes: This special sweepstakes will allow individuals a chance to take home a pair of Salomon skis with bindings. It's as easy as filling out an official entry form and as simple as a click of the mouse. Registration for the 20 Foot Celebration Sweepstakes will end at 11:59:01 a.m. MST on Friday, February 29, 2008, with all winners announced on Monday, March 3, 2008. One entry per person per day will be eligible.

Video: Captured your best Steamboat Champagne Powder day on video or still planning to? During the video portion of the competition, individuals may submit their best video of Steamboat's Champagne Powder to the site. Digital file must be in the following formats: .avi, .mpeg, .mov, .wmv, .3gp, .mp3, .jpg, and .gif. with a size limit of 50MB. All contest videos must be one minute or less and shot on location at the Steamboat Ski Resort. Participants may submit only one digital file to the contest.

Powder Prose: Steamboat's Powder Prose requires participants to submit 200 words or less describing their best Steamboat Champagne Powder day. A panel of judges will select the top twenty entries, which will be posted on the website, and then an overall grand prize winner.

A pair of Salomon skis/bindings will be awarded randomly to 14 individuals in the Sweepstakes; a pair of Salomon skis/bindings will be awarded to the top three entries in both the video and Powder Prose contests; and a pair of Marker Steamboat Mountain Gloves and $50 Steamboat Gift Card will be awarded to twenty individuals randomly drawn from a combination of all three categories.

"With the resort's third snowiest December already in the record book and more than 100 at mid-mtn.during the month of January, Steamboat continues to show why it's the home of Champagne Powder snow, said Doug Allen, vice president-operations of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. "In fact, Warren Miller rearranged their travel schedules to get to Steamboat in early January to capture the tremendous snow that we've seen.

So far this season, Steamboat has seen 272 at mid-mountain, including 106 at mid-mountain and 129 at the summit that fell during the month of January alone. From November 21st through January 22nd, snow has fallen at the resort 50 out of 65 days, including 28 powder days, where more than four inches greeted skiers/riders. The resort is currently reporting a 64-inch base at mid-mountain and 74-inch base at the summit.
