Outfitter: Trial Run, Patagonia Helium

Patagonia Helium

This wispy pullover is a modern iteration of the archetypal windshirt, treated to a durable-water-repellent finish. Devoid of every feature but a neck zipper and elasticized wrists and waist, it tips the scales at 5.5 ounces and can easily be wadded into a palm-sized bundle. Though it will deter light precipitation, the Helium worked best layered over long underwear for aerobic activities. It also did a great job either over or under a heavier fleece or wool sweater, taking the bite out of the wind on downhills.
