Grenoble, France Dec. 23, 2001 (AP)--Heavy snowfall raised the risk of avalanches Monday across the French Alps, where a skier was killed in a snowslide a day earlier, officials said.
A woman in her twenties died Sunday at the Tignes ski resort when she left a marked trail and an avalanche struck, mountain police from the Savoie region said.
Also Sunday, three people were seriously injured by a snowslide at La Clusaz resort.
Forecasters said weekend weather conditions raised the risk of avalanches in the Alps through Monday.
