What makes you qualified to test?: I am not sure. I do enjoy ski testing. My opinion on skis is somehow similar to others with seasoned ski testers. I feel like I still got a lot to learn. This was my second year testing.
Skiing background: I was ski racer in high school. I went to Stratton Mt. School. Now I live in Salt Lake City and enjoy powder skiing and back country skiing.
Favorite type of terrain: Steep powder
Ideal ski: Carving is my basic style. I always want to carve. But I would like skis that float well on flat powder areas, so I would like to have fairly wide skis that still carve well.
Favorite part of the Skiing mag ski test: Seeing friends that I have not seen for a year.
Funniest story from ski test (any year)?: I don't have one, but I love listening to funny stories Sam Bass tells on the lift.
What don't people know about the ski test?: I think people don't know how physically demanding it is to test 20 skis a day.
Why should people trust the Skiing mag ski test?: What I could tell by testing different skis, is that some skis are great, and some are not so great. They are similar in price. Why not check out skiing magazine and learn about them before you buy. I can see many testers are serious and seasoned. Not only they are good skiers, I think they are good testers. They can make a comment for different levels of skiers. So I think that is why reading skiing magazine could help a reader decide what to buy.
