We'll make the pitch first, then give you the backstory.

The short version: This mindblowing shot of skier Kevin Brower, taken last winter at Utah's Brighton Resort by photographer Steve Lloyd, is up for a prestigious media award, but we can't win without your help. Please help us win by voting for the cover in this Facebook gallery: http://on.fb.me/1g8gmw9.

The backstory: Every year, the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME), which is the media industry's version of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, conducts a wide-ranging awards program. For the media, these are essentially the Academy Awards. Skiing Magazine's January/February 2013 cover was chosen to compete in one of ASME's signature contests, the Best Cover Contest Readers' Choice Awards.

Not only did we win the Sporting and Adventure Category—besting such giants as Sports Illustrated and ESPN—but we garnered enough votes to be included among the ten finalists.

Now we're in the final round, up against magazines like Vogue, Cosmo, and New York Times Magazine, and cover subjects like Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, and Harry Potter. For the love of skiing and the sake of skiers everywhere, please help us take home the win and showcase our sport's artistry to a larger audience. Go here to vote: http://on.fb.me/1g8gmw9.

Thanks for your consideration.
