Every Move You Make Every Run You Take

Your days of losing the lame skier in your group by claiming you got separated at the summit are numbered. Blame Steamboat, Colo., which will debut a homing device worthy of James Bond this January.

A Mountain Watch transmitter, worn on your wrist, tracks you across the slopes (or onto a barstool). Any member of your designated group can ski up to one of dozens of Location Station monitors scattered throughout the resort and see your whereabouts pinpointed on a trail map.

Every child enrolled in the Steamboat Ski School will be equipped with the device to "give parents peace of mind," says Steamboat executive Andy Wirth. The service also will be available for $25 per week per family or group of four. "They say there are no friends on powder days," Wirth says. "Maybe now there can be."
