MSP World Premiere
The first stop on the Matchstick Productions film tour usually takes place in Whistler, BC. But not this year. The Crested Butte, Colorado-based crew at MSP decided to keep the world premiere of In Deep: The Skiing Experience a little closer to home—it's happening this Saturday, September 19, in Boulder, Colorado. "We are still having a big show in Whistler but we moved the world premiere to Boulder because we wanted to keep it true to our Colorado roots," MSP Executive Producer Murray Wais told us. "It’s good to mix it up and make it easier for different people to get there." The athletes in attendance at the premiere will include Daron Rahlves, Mark Abma, Hugo Harrison, Bobby Brown, Rory Bushfield, Colby West, and James Heim.
This year, the film will be especially significant for the tribute to Shane McConkey, who died while filming with MSP in Italy last March. "Shane’s been shooting with us for almost 16 years now and he died on a shoot this year," Wais said. "It’s a horrible thing, but we put together a segment from some of his best footage over the years that is heartfelt, touching, and talks about his last days on earth." Another highlight of the film, according to Wais, is 16-year-old Sean Pettit’s breakout performance as a skier. If you can't make it to the world premiere, check out their website for dates and locations of the rest of the tour.
