Smith Pivlock V90 Sunglasses
Smith’s new Pivlock V90 sunglasses excel in two areas: weight and light. The rimless, single lens design and minimalist arms make the whole package so light it’s easy to forget you’re wearing anything at all. As for the optics, Smith paired its TLT (tapered lens technology), which eliminates any distortion with the curved lens, with its new Pivlock interchangeable lens system that makes adjusting to changing lighting conditions as easy as two quick snaps. Smith has developed what are essentially two different sizes for this model, a V90 and a V90 Max. The Max provides slightly more coverage and is suited to larger faces.
Two things to consider before you buy:
1. Know your size. The Max lens can be too big for small faces, creating a seal between your cheeks and the bottom of the frame, causing the lens to fog unnecessarily.
2. Go darker. The nosepiece of the frame can be seen in your peripheral vision. Opting for a darker frame color will make it less distracting.
Only bummer: Not all the frames come with multiple lens. Spend the extra $20 and get one of the complete setups. It includes three lenses: a darker lens, a moderate anytime lens, and clear.
