Skier Busted for Gender-Bending Pass Fraud
On November 29th, Sarah Nicole Fowke was stopped by a ticket scanner at Colorado’s Keystone Resort when she showed a pass with a man’s picture on it. When questioned, she claimed to be in the middle of a sex change, but couldn’t give any personal information beyond a birthday. After the sheriff was called in she admitted to borrowing her boyfriend’s pass. And lying.
No one was more surprised by the situation than her boyfriend’s father who received a phone call from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department asking about his son’s gender reassignment surgery.
Although her excuse may have been the most unique, Fowke isn’t the first person to get caught this winter. Blame the economy, or new high-def scan guns, but at Vail Resorts cases of pass fraud are up significantly. Ticket checkers have busted 188 people using stolen or borrowed passes, more than double the amount they saw last year.
Fowke was charged with theft over $500 and criminal impersonation.
