Tight is Just Right?

Don't blame us, but tights might actually help you ski better. Really snug, form-fitting Lycra long johns, made by the Aussie company Skins, reportedly enable skiers to ski longer and harder. Compression from the stretch fabric enhances blood circulation in the legs, reducing the buildup of lactic acid and thereby lessening postactivity muscle soreness. A study by the Penn State Center for Sports Medicine showed that the tights increased an athlete's force and power production by an average of 12 percent. "My turns feel sharper and my legs feel more secure," says U.S. Ski Team member Alex Shaffer. Info:
