We skied this and other powder test skis on a 20-inch day—conditions for which the Shoots is made. Huge tip rocker and very little sidecut make for terrific float and surfy maneuverability. “In steep, powdery bumps, I could mow over three at a time without getting hung up,” said one tester. Keep the Shoots away from groomers and don’t try to initiate turns from the tip as you would with a carve-oriented ski—these are not its strengths. As with many shallow-sidecut, rockered powder boards, the hip-swivel smear turn works best.
