Eye in the Sky

posted: 03/17/2005

Need a bird's-eye photo of your ski house? A radio-controlled helicopter rigged with a camera will buzz your home for $200 per hour. Invented by GravityShots of Whitefish, Mont., the heli-cam can fly in areas that are restricted to aircraft. While the $5,000 gizmo has escorted rafters and shadowed skiers, it most often flies for real estate clients. "It shoots a beautiful low-angle aerial view," says GravityShots co-owner Adele Valentino, who tries not to let the bird fly higher than 500 feet. "Above that, it's hard to pilot because you don't know which is the front or the back."
