Are singles lines really faster?

Ask Dr. Flake
posted: 03/02/2004

Frequently they are. But don't just fly into them blindly, thinking you're on the fast track to freshies. Singles lines, remember, are most often found at quad lifts. Their purpose: to funnel singles onto chairs with parties of two or three. But if the maze is full of foursomes, the singles line can move as slowly as W's tongue during speech. On a powder day, Dr. Flake would rather get in "the other singles line like this: Ski outside the ropes, spot a threesome near the front, and insinuate yourself into their party—thereby getting a prime position while blowing right past the misinformed hopefuls in the "real singles line.
