Fast carvers will love this stiff, damp, race-style ski, which performed surprisingly well off-piste too. Tester’s Take: “The Aurora makes insane GS turns with lots of pop.” —Charlotte Moats

Völkl’s new women’s ski technology—called Bio-Logic—takes into account that a good percentage of knee injuries happen to women. In contrast to the brand’s past women’s models, the binding’s toepiece is slightly raised to reduce quadriceps strain, which means better knee protection. Skis with this system also have narrower and softer tails and stiffer shovels—so there’s less knee twisting at the end of the turn. Most models in the Attiva line use Bio-Logic.
