The women’s version of the Impact series is flawless. With the 100-millimeter last and expandable shell, it’s hard to imagine a foot it won’t fit comfortably. Its 85-flex performance keeps most experts happy, with the integrity learners need too. Want more oomph? Get the Idol 9 or the snug, race-bred Instinct (both 90 flex).

If it’s snug-fitting, race-bred performance you require, go with Salomon’s X3-10 CS (120 flex) or Falcon CS Pro (100). The Impact 10 (120 flex)—or the 9 (100)—offers a good blend of all-day comfort with sufficiently inspiring performance. A tester favorite.
