Finally, a true expert-freeride Dobermann for women—and raves from our testers to go with it. It’s race-snug and powerful, with freeride-appropriate shock absorption, a calf-friendly cuff, and a cush fur liner (which feels tight but packs out quickly). A strong boot for strong girls.

A hand-activated pump mounted on the cuff of the Phoenix 80 inflates bladders attached to the shell in the forefoot and ankle areas. Pump them full of air for a snug, customized fit in these key areas. It’s a new technology from Tecnica (available in stiffer, more expensive boots, too). Fit customization doesn’t get any easier.

Usually, a ski/walk feature compromises performance by weakening the rearward support the spine provides. Not so with the Delight Pro. The cuff releases to vertical, making it easy to get around between runs, but there’s little loss of rearward integrity. The low cuff is designed to accommodate a woman’s calf. The liner is cushy and warm. And it skis with reasonable accuracy.
