Atomic's Tri-Tech series of boots features removable toes and heels on the shell, which means you can fine tune the boot height and ramp angle right in the lodge. Heel and toe are connected by a "sole-length stabilizer" that's separate from the shell. The key: The way the pieces fit together, the boot's sole can flex fore and aft. You've heard of skis flexing, but never boot soles. Tri-Tech will appear in five models, including the top-end BetaRace 10.50 Titanium race model ($350-$550) shown here.
