Everything in the U.S. has gotten fatter in recent years: cars, kids, skis. But this month you can expect a turnaround-with the skis, anyway. More than a dozen new models are hitting the market, most of which are positively svelte: There's hardly a waist wider than 68 mm.
Despite the production frenzy-winter '04 will see the most new skis ever introduced mid season in history-a few companies weren't ready to unveil their wares by press time. Nordica, for example, will show off the Speed Machine 14 (68 mm underfoot) in late January. In the meantime, here's a preview of what you'll soon be seeing on dealer walls.
