Pokljuka, Slovenia Dec. 12, 2001 (AP)--World champion Magdalena Forsberg of Sweden scored her third straight victory Wednesday by winning an individual biathlon World Cup event.
Forsberg, who started in 41st position, finished the 15-kilometer course in 45 minutes, 9.4 seconds, missing just one target.
Her closest rival was Uschi Disl of Germany, who was 25.3 seconds behind and also missed one target. Another German, Andrea Henkel, was third in 1 minute, 6.2 seconds, with one missed target.
Last season, Forsberg had an unprecedented run of eight straight wins and finished with 13 victories.
Olena Zubrilova of Ukraine was in excellent position to win Wednesday. She had a clean performance before the last shooting range, then her rifle jammed and she missed two shots. That dropped her to seventh place.
The World Cup continues with a men's individual event Thursday.
