The best way to ensure safe tree-skiing-and to find hidden powder-is to follow the herd (the rare time that's advisable). "Don't follow one track into the woods-it was probably made by the only guy in town who can ski there," Brown says. "There's safety in numbers. Follow lots of tracks. Chances are the other 300 locals aren't crazy."
