Free Rides to WhiteFace, Wilmington

Lake Placid, NY, Jan. 11, 2002--The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announced Friday the continuation of free public transportation linking Lake Placid, Whiteface Mountain and Wilmington.

The service, managed by Majestic Limousine and Transportation and operated by ORDA, began Dec. 26 and will run daily through the month of January. Monday through Friday one bus will run every two hours from 7 AM to 3 PM. The final return from Whiteface is 5 PM.

Each Saturday and Sunday, as well as Jan. 21, the service will function on the hour, every hour, starting at 7 AM. At least two buses, and possibly a third, will operate with a final return from Whiteface at 5 PM on these days.

ORDA is working with county, town and civic leaders to provide this service for guests and residents alike. It will also continue in February and March.

The route commences at the Mirror Lake Inn. A total of 10 pickups are planned as follows:

1. Mirror Lake Inn
2. Ramada Inn / Hilton Hotel
3. Howard Johnson Motor Lodge
4. Swiss Acres
5. Cameron's Restaurant
6. Holiday Inn
7. Municipal Parking Lot
8. Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn
9. Whiteface Mountain Base Lodge
10. Mel's Diner in Wilmington / Four Corners

After the 10th stop, the system re-sets at the Mirror Lake Inn.
