Crunch Fitness
COORDINATES: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta
LOWDOWN: Crunch's 45-minute class relies heavily on gliders: nine-inch purple disks that allow for low-impact movements. Instructors learn techniques from Roberto Melani, a former ski racer from Italy, so training is consistent from New York to L.A.
DATES: September through April.
COST: Free to members; $24 per session for nonmembers.

Denver Athletic Club
COORDINATES: 1325 Glenarm Place, Denver, Colorado
LOWDOWN: The DAC's class focuses on leg strength: lunges, plyometrics, and squats. Sprints, stair work, and jump ropes cover cardio.
DATES: October to December.
COST: Free to members. Guest passes are $15 per session.

New York Health & Racquet Club
COORDINATES: 60 West 23rd Street, New York, New York
LOWDOWN: Led by certified fitness coach and Catamount Ski Area instructor Victor Cabezas, this class is a nonstop workout that includes a 20-minute high-intensity circuit of plyometrics, cone work, endurance, and core exercises. Bonus: Students get exercise homework to do during the week.
DATES: Usually starts early October.
COST: $75 for members, $100 for nonmembers.

Sound Mind & Body Gym
COORDINATES: 437 N. 34th Street, Seattle, Washington
LOWDOWN: Olympic gold medalist Debbie Armstrong helped conceive this class back in 1988. She still consults and shows up to demo new exercises, which include hauling a 500-pound test line around with 50 people or doing gymnast springboard jumps.
DATES: September through March.
COST: Free to members; nonmembers pay $15 per session or $125 for ten sessions.

The Sports Club/LA
COORDINATES: 4 Avery Street at Tremont, Boston, Mass.
LOWDOWN: One class per week is dedicated to standard ski-conditioning, but day two is mostly yoga-which heightens your mental focus and increases overall strength, balance, and flexibility.
DATES: Starts in October.
COST: $250 for members, $300 for nonmembers.
