If you’re in Crested Butte during a typical storm cycle, you’ll wake up to fat powder flakes floating past your window. Spring out of bed, throw on your gear, and head to the lifts. Spin the Silver Queen to High lift to Paradise to North Face t-bar lap, and enjoy your fair share of freshies. There’s plenty of terrain to explore, so it’s likely you’ll have powder laps all day long.
Crested Butte plays host to multiple freeskiing events— both telemark and alpine. If you happen to be in town, these events are fun for spectators and athletes alike. A qualifying stop of the Freeskiing World Tour takes place February 16-21, and the telemark event is March 18-20. Stick around for the Al Johnson— a famous uphill-downhill telemark race. Skin up, ski down, and party for the rest of the day— all in costume. For the full calendar of events, click here.
