I have ridiculously excellent news. Zinka, your favorite neon-colored, coconut-smelling, 100-percent zinc sun block still exists. And it still oozes that Jeff Spicoli vibe you’ve missed since 1994. You’ve always joked about being the coolest kid in school. Finally, your sun block can help back that claim up.
While you bask in your newfound zinc-oxide awesomeness, you might as well put down a tasty beverage. Might I suggest Stone Cali-Belgique IPA. Brewed by the renowned Southern California-based Stone Brewing Co., this IPA uses the same recipe as the company’s standard Stone IPA save for one key ingredient: a Belgian yeast strain. The resulting brew smells both sweet and sour with hints of tropical fruit, honey, banana, citrus, and a touch of pine. Its flavor profile runs the gamut. Notes of sweet nectarine and peach blend with grassy malts and bitter hops. I hate to get overly geeky with this, but if the morning dew on fresh cut hay could have a flavor, this would probably be it. Stone Cali-Belgique IPA mixes the classic hoppiness of an IPA with the wild, farm-like flavors of a Belgian. It’s complex and pretty dang delicious.
It’s fall now. Time to move on from light, sessionable summer beers. Stone Cali-Belgique IPA is the ideal graduation.
