Oh…didn’t see you there. No this isn’t a bad time. You caught us: two devilishly handsome gentlemen expanding their brains whilst pondering a couple weighty tomes in the library. It’s pretty standard Friday recreation, our time to kick back, reflect, and share a cold brewski. Go ahead. Sit down. Make yourself comfortable. What’s that? What are we drinking? We thought you’d never ask.
Tucker here is pouring me a glass of Heart of Darkness by Magic Hat Brewing Company. It’s a fantastic stout from the Vermont-based brewery. Jet black with a rich mocha-colored head, Heart of Darkness pours just like the novel with which it shares a name: dark and brooding. It’s smoother and earthier than one would expect, and relies more on malts than hops. Bittersweet chocolate and toffee are the most noticeable flavors but there is a hint of coffee in there as well. Though there’s little hoppiness to the brew, its well-balanced nature offers plenty to think about with each sip. Heart of Darkness is an ideal malt beverage for waiting out winter storms and catching up on fine works of literature. We thoroughly suggest you pick yourself up some.
