F@#k it, I’m toasted. The last two weeks have been a planning-meeting and vacation-catch-up hell. I can feel the carpel tunnel creeping into my digits and a faint soreness slipping into my mouse-moving shoulder. But I don’t want your sympathy. In fact, I’d prefer you dish me quite the opposite and call me a punk (or some more expletive-filled word) if you see me this weekend. You see, while the life of a ski/beer editor does mandate a bit of desk time, it’s nowhere near as taxing as just about every job shy of trustafarian. I’m prone to get whiny when things aren’t going perfectly, and it takes the likes of a hardworking desk jockey in a “REAL” job to slap the smug punkness off my face. Please, if you see me, HIT HARD.
But in the meantime, to self medicate I’m going to crush an Icey. P. A., a beer that was so graciously gifted to me by my friends at Icelantic Skis. I’ve been saving it for a moment just like this, a time when I need a stiff malt beverage. Brewed as a limited-edition collaboration brewski between Oskar Blues Brewery and Icelantic Skis, Icey. P. A. exudes all the pungent hoppy deliciousness I’ve come to expect from Oskar Blues beer. It’s sweet and dry up front, but it finishes resiny with nice citrus and piney hop bite. It’s not quite as aggressive as Oskar’s other IPA, Deviant Dales, but it’s plenty for the average hop connoisseur. It’s available at some Front Range Old Chicago restaurants. Go out and get yourself one.
You’ll notice, loyal BOTW readers, that this Beer of the Week has arrived a day early. That’s because immediately upon posting this BOTW, I’m heading home, packing my bags, and hopping on an early flight to Utah to catch this upcoming storm. See. There I go again.
