On the eve of competition, a memorial took place at the top of Hidden Peak to honor our fallen friend, Ryan Hawks, who died tragically the previous weekend at the Kirkwood event. A couple hundred freeskiers, friends, and family loaded the Snowbird Tram, and shared stories and memories. As Angel Collinson put it, the windy night was “magical,” punctuated with the blasts of ceremonial charges. Head judge, Jim Jack, encouraged everyone to “do it for Ryan.” With these inspirations, competitors brought a renewed passion to the final stop on the tour.
