Pack warm: The first winter I bought a really big negative-30 sleeping bag. I think that was my best investment ever. Really warm boots and warm gear are necessities too, because you’re never warm enough when you have to hang out in a parking lot and dance around a camping stove just to get warm.
Sleep for free: There’s always free parking, so when you get a car it’s really nice that you can park the car anywhere. In Canada and the US, Wal-mart is a safe bet.
Buddy up: Really good friends in life make good traveling partners. If it’s only a skiing partner, I think it cuts off a little bit on the pleasure. I’m traveling with some of my best friends and I think this is really the key.
