Mountain Athlete Ski Training
Strength for skiers
Photo: Brigid Mander

If you are not up for the whole program, Shaul recommends these five exercises for skiers:
5 sets of 5 reps each of: front squats, deadlifts, bench press, 5 leg blasters every 30 seconds, and 40 to 60 lb sandbag get ups.
What’s a sandbag get-up? A bag, filled with 40 or 60 lbs of weight, with which you lie on the floor and get up holding it. “Those are my number one favorite total body strength exercise,” says Shaul. And then he smiles a maniacal little smile.

Still interested in checking out Shaul’s philosophy? You can actually join Mountain Athlete online for $25 a month, access the workouts for the day, head down to your own gym, test your long-term masochism, and enjoy the results this winter. http://www.mtnathlete.com/
